Voids and Foliage I and II
Date created: 2012

This abstract sculpture was created by Joe Slack this year (2012). It is made of cor ten steel and has been left to rust. It stands 99 inches in height, supported by a foot-high iron base.
The sculpture is a straight-sided pier, gradually narrowing and topped with what appears to be a neck and head. There are two circular holes, one in the “body” and another in the “head”. The surface of the sculpture has raised “squiggles” and “curves” which appear to possibly be iron bars twisted and welded to the sculpture.
The sculpture is located on the median on N. Boulevard, just south of Lincoln. The name of the sculpture, “Voids and Foliage” is written on the base with welding, and the sculptor’s name and date “Slack 12” is welded on the base at the rear.
